Settings

The Settings window holds your connection details to the Migration Manager Database as well Archiving locations and Update settings.

Warning: The Settings window should only be changed by the Migration Manager Support Team or with the guidance of the Support Team.  Incorrect use of this screen can result in Migration Manager failing to connect to the Database.  To contact Support, please log a Support Call.

Accessing Settings

From the Main Menu, select Tools, then Administrative, then Settings.

Connection Tab

The Connection Tab is made up of 2 main sections:

  • File Locations
  • Database Details

1. File Locations

Where the main Folders and Archive Folder locations are set.

Folders Location.  This option is only ever modified if the Path where the Migration Manager files and folders are kept is changed.

When you make a change to this location, you will be prompted if you want to make this change for All users.

  • No.  If you say No, Settings will only update the Folder Location for the Settings on the one machine where this change was made.
  • Yes.  If you say Yes, then the Global Settings will be changed so all users will access Files and Folders though this new Path.  Once again, we do not recommend changing this setting without consulting with the Migration Manager Support Team.

2. Archived Files Location

Archived Files Location.  This option is used to set the Location where client folders are moved to when a Matter is Archived.

When you Archive Matters, the Matter’s Files and folders are moved from the standard ‘Clients’ folder into a folder called ‘Z-Archive\Clients’.  This ‘Z-Archive’ folder sits within your standard Migration Manager (or LEAPMM) folder by default but can be changed.

When you make a change to this location, you will be prompted if you want to make this change for All users.

When you change the Archived File Location setting, selecting Yes or No will only change the setting for the Machine you are working on.  You must then make this change on any other machines running Migration Manager in your organisation.

Important.

  1. If you change the Folder location to a location outside the Migration Manager (or LEAPMM) folder, this new location must still be accessible for all users that need to access Archived Matters.
  2. If you have previously Archived Matters, and now change the Archive Folder Location, this will not move or change the location of the existing Archived Matters.  Users will still need access to both the new and old Archive Locations.

Once again we strongly suggest you speak with the Migration Manager Support Team before making changes.

For full details on how to Archive Matters, see the guide Archive Matters.

3. Database Details

The Database Details contain information on how Migration Manager connects to its SQL Database.  These settings are set by the Migration Manager Installation Team at time of install.

You can test these settings by clicking the Test button.  These settings would only need to change if your Database was being moved and would be changed by the Support Team.  If your connection test fails, please Log a Support call.  You can do this by clicking the Get Support button.

Update tab

The Update Tab contains 2 options:

  1. How often to check for updates.  The options are Daily or Weekly.
  2. The Download Timeout for how long the update should try to contact the MM Server.  The default is 15 seconds but can be extended if there is slow internet.

Once you have completed changed.  Click Save & Exit.

Proxy Tab

If your site is running its internet through a Proxy Server, the proxy server will block Migration Manager from reaching the Migration Manager Licensing Server as well as other sites Migration Manager requires. This will result in your Online Status showing as ‘Expired’ resulting in certain functions being blocked like Updates, eLodge, Form Filling etc.

1. Enter your Proxy Settings

If you are using a Proxy Server and subsequently having issues within Migration Manager, tick the Use Proxy Settings checkbox and complete the Connection Settings.  When complete you can click Test Settings to confirm the details are correct.

2. Use IE Settings

Some Larger firms use Group Policy to maintain Proxy details via IE settings.  In this scenario you can leave the Connection Settings blank and simply tick Use IE Settings.

Once complete, click Save & Exit.
