Creating a Subsequent Entrant Matter

If you assisted a migrant with their visa application, and now they wish to apply for their family to enter on a Subsequent Entrant Visa, you can do so by duplicating the original Matter which will pull all the original Matter's details, including the granted visa application for the new matter.

In the below example, we will be preparing a Subsequent Entrant Matter for a 482 Skills in Demand Subsequent Entrant Visa.  The process is much the same for other application types.

Below we see the Matter for the original 482 Visa Application

Before duplicating the matter, check that the approved visa has been captured (which should be the case if you are running a VEVO for your client before sending out the approval), or manual enter it on the Visas tab.

1. Duplicate the Matter

From the Main Toolbar, click New.

Select the option to Duplicate Matter, then Filter to find the original Matter. Select this Matter to duplicate, then complete the Responsible staff and Create.

You don't need to create a new link with the Business Sponsor for the Skills in Demand subclass 482 Subsequent entrant visa application.

2. Set details on the Cover Page.

In the new matter, the main applicant will still be the person who holds the subclass 482 visa. Update the File Status, the Category, Matter Type and the contact email address. You can add any commentary you want regarding the application in the Summary File Note.

3. Check/Add Partner or Dependents

Check that the Partner or Dependents exist on the Applicants > Relations tab

If the partner or dependents were not listed on the previous application, you can manually add them in the Applicants > Relations tab.

Click the Add + button.

Complete the details, the Apply.

Once the relationship (Subsequent Entrant) is listed on the Relations tab, ensure ‘This person is included in the application’ is ticked.

4. Send a Merged Web Questionnaire.

You will then be able to merge the Skills in Demand (482) Subsequent Entrant Questionnaire web questionnaire to send to your client.

When sending the Web Questionnaire, make sure you select 'Merge From Existing Data'. This way, all the data which has previously been collected will be pre-populated into the new Web Questionnaire.

In the questionnaire, the Primary Applicant is the original Skills in Demand subclass 482 visa holder, and the Secondary Applicant/s will be the subsequent entrant/s.

5. Process the application via eLodge

Once the Web Questionnaire has been returned and imported, and you are ready to start drafting, you select the Visa application in application type and 482 – Skills in Demand (Subsequent Entrant) to start drafting the application in the IMMI account.

Then select the applicant/s to be processed for the Subsequent Entrant Application, followed by OK.

Now continue population of the immi application as normal.
